Who we are
Our website address is: https://pacificafightback.org. We are a national coalition of listeners, paid and unpaid staff, local and national Board members from all five Pacifica radio stations, uniting across any previous differences to preserve and extend democracy, accountability and transparency at Pacifica by opposing and urging a “NO” vote on the proposed bylaws revision. The revised bylaws would eliminate local station boards and local oversight of management and budgets, establishing in their place a permanent and self-perpetuating outsider majority of the national board with the power to change the bylaws as it sees fit. They increase the cost of membership, disproportionately so for people with low incomes, eliminate diversity in representation at each station, and lower the quorum necessary to sell Foundation assets. They scapegoat democratic governance for financial problems that Pacifica faces without proposing any solution or strategy for dealing with those problems. They strip staff of representation, and prohibit any elected station directors from serving as key officers of the Foundation. These remarks, and the website, are not an official Pacifica Foundation statement or website nor an official website of any of the five Pacifica Radio Stations (KPFA Radio, KPFK Radio, KPFT Radio, WBAI Radio, WPFW Radio). Opinions and facts alleged herein or on the site belong to the author(s) of the statement or website only. They do not reflect the editorial stance or policy of the Pacifica Foundation, or any of the five Pacifica Radio Stations (KPFA Radio, KPFK Radio, KPFT Radio, WBAI Radio, WPFW Radio), or the opinions of its management, Pacifica National Board, station staff or other listener members.
